Tightening management of function food (13/12/2018)
On November 22, 2018, the Vietnam Food Safety Authority under the Ministry of Health and the Vietnam Association of Functional Food organised the second International Scientific Conference on Functional Food.
The conference attracted more than 350 delegates from Vietnam, USA, German, Japan, India, Singapore and Korea. 
The conference aims to share knowledge and discussions on functional food, scientific achievements and technology, advanced techniques applied in functional food...
At the conference,reports focused on: the development of functional food in Vietnam and ASEAN; the role of functional foods in improving the health; GMP in functional food production; producing functional foods from herbs, animals, minerals, microalgae, probiotics, mushrooms, yeasts; products for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia, menopausal, gastrointestinal disorders; the management of publicity, labeling and functional food.
Speaking at the conference, Associated Professor.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Director of Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) emphasized: We do not worry about lack of functional foods, only lack of good quality functional food. The current loosening of management will cause inequality for the enterprises producing functional foods and affect the health of consumers. In the coming time, the Government as well as other ministries will implement drastically the management of functional food.
