Reported from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of tourists to Quang Nam in 2018 was estimated at 6.5 million, increasing by 21.5% compared to the same period in 2017. Of which, international visitors were estimated at 3.78 million, up 36.58%; domestic tourists reached 2.79 million, up 5.33%. The highest number of international visitors is from Korea, Australia, England, France, China, the United States, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Spain. In particular, visitors from Korea increased by 45.63%, Spain increased by 40%, the Netherlands increased by 17%, Germany increased by 14%, the UK increased by 10% compared to 2017. Quang Nam's revenue was estimated at VND 4,700 billion, up 21.76% over the same period in 2017; Social income from tourism is estimated at VND 11,100 billion.
In the 2019 Lunar New Year, the total number of tourists was estimated at 209,172 visitors, increasing 30.73% compared to in the same period of 2018, of which international visitors were estimated at 130,080 visitors, an increase of 21.46% over the same period in 2018; domestic visitors were estimated at 79,092 visitors, up 49.51% over the same period in 2018.
In 2019, Quang Nam will focus to promote tourism. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with a number of related departments, branches and localities to implement 24 specific tasks to develop tourism as a key economic sector of Quang Nam, including: raising awareness about tourism development, preserving and promoting cultural heritage values, building typical tourism products, creating a good tourism environment, strengthening tourism cooperation, completing mechanisms and policies for tourism development, training, retraining and development of tourism labor...
Firstly, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will advise the provincial People's Committee to direct and review the implementation of investment in developing road, rail, air, sea and inland waterway infrastructure; construct telecommunications and information technology infrastructure; promote the opening of domestic routes at Chu Lai airport and international routes after 2020.
