Quang Nam to send 1,500 workers to work abroad in 2019 (27/02/2019)
On 26th February, Quang Nam held a conference on labor export in 2019. Attendees included Vice Vice Chairman of People's Council Vo Hong, Vice Chairman Le Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Overseas Labor Management, under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Viet Huong and leaders of departments, agencies, localities in the provinces.
From 2016 to 2018, Quang Nam had 2,340 oversea workers (1,000 workers in 2018). Thang Binh, Que SOn, Tien Phuoc, Dai Loc have higher numbers of overseas workers. They mainly work in Japan and Korea. It's expected that they sent 500 billion VND to Quang Nam. In general, the number of oversea laborers has increased but not commensurate with the potential of the province.
In the period 2019 - 2021, Quang Nam will try to send 4,500 to 5,000 workers to work overseas. In 2019, the number of overseas workers will be 1,500 workers.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Le Van Thanh affirmed that labor export is an important solution to create jobs, increase income, reduce poverty sustainably, and improve the quality of human resources. For the past time, the labor export of Quang Nam has had positive changes but not enough compared to the potential of the province.
He required departments, agencies and localities to further strengthen the leadership and direction for labor export; promote information, propaganda, counseling, recruitment of employees; train and organize career orientation for laborers; support oversea workers especially preferential loans.
