In Quang Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of Quang Nam province Phan Viet Cuong; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh and representatives of departments, branches and localities attended the conference.
This year’s conference is to look back on the five-year implementation of the socio-economic development not only in 2020 but also the five-year period from 2016 to 2020. Participants will discuss opportunities and challenges, as well as put forward measures to carry out the 14th NA’s Resolution on socio-economic development tasks in 2021.
Speaking at the conference, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that in the past 5 years, the entire Party and people have created 1,200 billion USD worth of GDP. Particularly in 2020, despite the many difficulties caused by COVID-19 and the serious recession of the world economy since the Great Depression 1929-1932, our economy still persistently maintained positive growth approximately 3 %. The economic scale reached more than 340 billion USD, surpassing the high economy in the region. Make Vietnam one of the 10 highest growing countries in the world. The stock market has developed, adding $ 120 billion to the national assets compared to 5 years ago. Financial capacity, banking strength continued to be strengthened, foreign exchange reserves were nearly 100 billion USD.
In particular, in the past 5 years, our economy has created more than 8 million new jobs for people, including those of working age and those who lost their jobs before. Average income per employee is nearly 5,000 USD / year. Judging by the World Bank's standards based on purchasing power parity, the average income of Vietnamese people is equivalent to nearly 9,000 USD. The rate of poor households according to multidimensional standards has decreased to less than 3% compared to 10% of 5 years ago.
Addressing the Conference, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong acknowledged and praised the efforts of the entire political system, of the people in the task of socio-economic construction and development.
The conference reviews reports on socio-economic performance in 2020 and during 2016-2020, planned tasks in the coming time, the Government’s work in 2020 and the 2016-2020 period, outcomes of administrative procedure reforms, e-Government building and operation of the Prime Minister’s working group.
Many other reports are to be tabled for consideration, including those on the implementation of Resolution No.35/NQ-CP on supporting business development to 2020 and measures to assist businesses by 2025 with vision until 2030; outcomes of economic restructuring and growth model renewal; and inspection work, settlement of complaints and petitions as well as corruption prevention in 2020.
Opinions put forward at the conference will serve as the basis for the Government to finalise its Resolution No.01 for promulgation and implementation right on the first day of 2021.
