Thang Binh is located in the central part of Quang Nam Province. It borders the districts of Que Son and Duy Xuyen in the north, Tam Ky City and Phu Ninh District in the south, Tien Phuoc and Hiep Duc in the west, and the East Sea to the east. Thang Binh District has the coast of 25 kilometers with pristine beaches that remain untouched by tourism. In addition, the district is home to the Buddhist Institute of Dong Duong, which is a ruined Buddhist monastery complex of the late 9th century recognized as a national relic in 2000. It is the place where the traditional festival of Ba Cho Duoc Welcoming Cart is organized on the 10th and 11th the first lunar month every year, and annual fishermen festivals at local fishing villages. In general, the district depends on agriculture for most of its income.
