Dr. Do Tuan Dat, VABIOTECH Chairman, said the vaccine was developed in partnership with UK Bristol University scientists after the very first case of COVID-19 infection was confirmed in Viet Nam.
Scientists at the company were successfully increasing the COVID-19 antigen in the laboratory, which is the most important ingredient in vaccine development, Dat said.
"We experimented on mice, testing the production of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 virus, along with the initial positive development of a laboratory-based COVID vaccine -19. "Said Dr Do Tuan Wat.
Scientists would collect mice blood samples after two weeks and 28 days before embarking on a manufacturing process to assess safety and effectiveness.
The blood samples on the animal will be forwarded for further review to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, he said.
Up to 6am on 3/5, that is, 17 consecutive days Vietnam has not recorded new cases of COVID-19 infection in the community. The country has recorded 270 cases of COVID-19.
The remaining 51 patients are being treated and monitored health at 8 medical examination and treatment facilities. The majority of patients were in stable health, 12 had negative first test results with SARS-CoV-2 virus and 9 patients had negative results of 2 or more times with this virus.
