In the first 6 months of 2021, the total product in the area reached more than 30.9 trillion VND, the economic growth rate (GRDP) increased by 11.7%. This is a high increase in the context of being negatively affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. Quang Nam is one of the nine provinces of the country with a growth rate of over two digits, ranking fifth compared to the whole country and the highest in the economic region.
The scale of the economy in the first 6 months of 2021 is estimated at more than 51.9 trillion VND, ranking second behind Da Nang. The GRDP of agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 15.4%. The industry-construction sector accounted for 34.6%. The service sector accounted for 32%. The product tax minus product subsidies accounts for 18%.
In particular, the industry-construction sector had a strong breakthrough and recovery. The processing and manufacturing industry increased by 35% and was the largest contributor to the overall growth of the whole economy.
The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector has grown steadily. The agricultural sector accounted for 57% and was the largest contributor to growth in this region, up 2.3% over the same period last year.
The socio-economic development in rural and mountainous areas and poverty reduction achieved certain results. Up to now, the province has 1,605 households registered to escape poverty sustainably, reaching more than 80% of the 2021 plan. Strive to reach 100% of the plan by the end of the year.

However, some industries still have not shown signs of recovery, due to the prolonged impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. The tourism and service sectors decreased by 0.5% over the same period. over 90% of tourist accommodation establishments in the province closed or temporarily stopped operating. The total number of visitors and stays in the first 6 months of the year decreased by 73.3% compared to the same period in 2020 and decreased by 92% compared to the same period in 2019. Tourism revenue in the first 6 months of the year was only about 121 billion VND. , down 87.6% over the same period in 2020 and 96% over the same period in 2019. As a result, social income from tourism decreased, only estimated at 284 billion VND.
