6,905 households in mountainous areas of Quang Nam province with housing assistance
The People's Committee of Quang Nam province has just held a meeting to review the planning for resettlement sites in disaster prevention and control in mountainous areas for 2022 – 2025 period.
Resettlement village in Tra Leng commune, Nam Tra My district
After 4 years of implementing the program on resettlement in natural disaster prevention and control in mountainous areas, 6,905 households have been arranged to settle down with a support amount of nearly VND274 billion. In which, 6,742 households were relocated to other stable places. That has contributed to stabilizing housing for many households affected by natural disasters, limiting damage caused by storms and floods, and reducing poverty in mountainous areas of Quang Nam province.
However, the population arrangement is still passive, low and not closely following the planning. Resettlement sites have not been scientifically surveyed, especially disaster prevention sites. Infrastructure has not been implemented synchronously. Therefore, in the period of 2021-2025, Quang Nam province will continue to support to arrange resettlement for 7,821 households in high risk areas affected by natural disasters, of which, there are 5,280 households in the mountainous areas.
